A host of activities are available in the area, and can be booked throughDullstroom
Reservations.
Fishing
Dullstroom is known for its flyfishing, and there are many venues offering
fishing in the area, as well as guided tuition for those new to the sport, or
those wishing to hone their skills.
Mavungana
Jonathan Boulton - consultation on the acquirement and management of developing
and established trout fisheries. Fly-fishing tuition and guided tours throughout
Southern Africa. Mavungana Syndicate offers excellent fishing. From R74 per
person/hour (4+ people.)
Horseriding
Outrides and pony rides for children. For something different, why not visit a
Dullstroom pub on horseback?
Trap shooting
Clay pigeon shooting on a well equipped range just 9km from town. Boma and braai
facilities available after the shoot. From R250 pp (25 rounds).
Mountain biking
There are a number of mountain bike trails in the area. Why not join some of the
locals on a ride (if you can keep up!)?
Hiking
The surrounding area is very scenic and lends itself to hiking. Take a walk up
Grootsuikerboschkop and see the village from above, while admiring some of the
indigenous flora and fauna or visiting Boer War graves.
Dullstroom Bird of Prey Centre
Watch a flying display with birds of prey, guided by a professional falconer.
Displays 10:30 am and 2:30 pm. R30 per person. Children under 10 - R10, under 6
years free.
Bird watching
Dullstroom is home to many bird-species, including all 3 species of crane,
Stanley's bustard, and many other endemic species. Verlorenvallei nature reserve
is a RAMSAR site, and home to many endemic flora and fauna species.
Vygenhoek Spa
Vygenhoek Spa is the first organic spa in South Africa. It has been created to
offer a total wellness experience in providing organically pure products and
treatments practised in a holistic environment.
Pendlehill Dairy
Pendle Hill Country Estate produce a range of old-fashioned farmhouse cheeses.
Bergen Cheese & Wine Restaurant provides delicious cheese specialities and
excellent wine. Bring the whole family and soak up the country surroundings.
Whisky Tasting
Wild about Whisky is the best stocked whisky bar in the southern hemisphere, boasting over 500
single malts, Irish, American and Japanese whiskies. Open 7 days a week, whisky
tastings conducted anytime. Booking recommended for groups larger than 4.
